For information about accessing information for Secretariat staff not based in New York, please contact the library in your duty station

In general, people connected to the UNHQ network in New York do not have to login to access most resources. If you are working remotely, here are some library systems that you may need to login to access:

  • Dag Discovery -- the search on the Library's website to find books and articles
    • username: email
    • alternative username: guest & password: unitednations
    • This account is created by the Library, usually the first time you borrow a book-- contact us if you need an account or use the guest account to view online resources
    • Logging in allows you to see the links to electronic resources if you are away from UNHQ and to renew or request print materials
  • Open Athens -- access to most subscriptions when not connected to UNHQ network
    • username: UNITE ID

Some users also have logins for specific resources, including:

  • EBSCO ebooks -- allows use of e-books
    • username: email
    • registration is no longer required, access available through Open Athens
  • Economist online -- allows access to the Economist.com
    • username: email
    • registration is no longer required, access available through Open Athens
  • Factiva Reader -- allows you to view the full text of Factiva articles from alerts or on your custom page
    • username: email
  • NYTimes -- allows you to read unlimited articles on nytimes.com
    • username: email

Certain UN resources also have logins:

  • UN Digital Library-- access to UN documents and publications
    • username: email
    • login is not needed to download files, but allows users to create alerts, save searches and export metadata for up to 200 records
  • UN Peacekeeping Resource Hub-- access to policy, guidance, and training on peacekeeping topics

NOTE: If you are having trouble logging in, clear your browser cache, delete cookies and try again. People who were able to log in previously have been reporting some issues that clear up when they clear their cache.
