How can I research UN involvement in the Korean Peninsula over time?

Research into this topic can be challenging as UN involvement began in 1947.

Both the General Assembly and the Security Council have had agenda items related to this region on a variety of topics, including:

  • admission to membership
  • conflict between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea
  • sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

The Yearbook of the United Nations and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council provide historic information about the actions of the UN and citation to UN documents. Both sources can be searched and have sections on the region.

Other UN system organizations may have additional information related to their areas of expertise.

Books, articles and secondary sources also provide citation to UN documents.
