Current Sessions' Themes: 2017-2019
Document E/RES/2016/3 has information on the Multi-year programme of work and themes of the Commission on the Status of Women from 2017-2019 as follows:
(a) CSW Sixty-first session (2017):
(i) Priority theme: Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work;
(ii) Review theme: Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls (agreed conclusions of the fifty-eighth session);
(b) CSW Sixty-second session (2018):
(i) Priority theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls;
(ii) Review theme: Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women (agreed conclusions of the forty-seventh session);
(c) CSW Sixty-third session (2019):
(i) Priority theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
(ii) Review theme: Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable Development (agreed conclusions of the sixtieth session).
These themes are a follow-up of the proposals for priority themes for future sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women in the Report of the Secretary General document: E/CN.6/2016/10.
Past Themes : 1988-2014
1988 to 1992: E/RES/1987/24 documents three priority themes for the 32 - 36 sessions of the CSW : Equality, Development and Peace.
1995: in resolution A/RES/50/203, the GA Requests the Commission on the Status of Women to develop its multi-year programme of work for the period 1996-2000.
1997-2000 in E/CN.6/1996/15 - E/1996/26, the CSW Adopts a multi-year work programme for a focused and thematic approach, culminating in a quinquennial (5 years) review and appraisal of the Platform for Action of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
2002-2006 in E/CN.6/2001/7; presents proposals for a multi-year programme of work for 2002-2006.
2007-2009: E/CN.6/2006/3 - presents multi- programme of work for 2007- 2009
2010-2014: in E/CN.6/2009/3 - E/CN.6/ 53 proposes a multi-year programme of work for 2010-2014
