In a letter dated 12 November 2013 (A/68/599), Saudi Arabia informed the Secretary-General that it would "not be in a position to assume the seat on the Security Council to which it was elected on 17 October 2013" (see A/68/PV.34).

Subsequently, on 6 December 2013, the General Assembly elected Jordan to the Security Council (A/68/PV.61).
