The report of the Joint Inspection Unit, Transparency in the selection and appointment of senior managers in the United Nations Secretariat, contains a wealth of information about high-level Secretariat officials (transmitted by A/66/380).

Included in this document are definitions for the various titles.

Annex II: Historical overview of Under-Secretaries-General and Assistant Secretaries-General or equivalent ranks, contains a list of appointees, covering 1946-2010.
