Where can I find maps produced by the United Nations?

The latest maps produced by the UN Geospatial Information Section (GIS, formerly Cartographic Section) are found on their website. Information about the rules for the use of UN maps and contact details can be found on the "About" page of their website.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library collects older maps and this includes:
  • UN-produced maps
  • treaty maps
  • maps produced by government agencies and commercial map-makers
Currently, the Library focuses its collection building on areas in which the UN is active. Maps from its collection are used by the UN Geospatial Information Section to create new maps, as well as by other members of the UN community in New York to support their research.
The Library provides information assistance only on UN produced maps to external researchers.
Some, but not all, have been catalogued and can be identified through the United Nations Digital Library: the online catalogue of UN documents and publications.

You can access the Maps collection through the homepage of the UN Digital Library:

ReliefWeb is a great source for maps related to humanitarian relief efforts around the world, including maps for re-use in UN publications.
