What is the difference between the UN Library and the UN Archives in New York?

At the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Libraries and Archives are separate.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library holds the published documents and publications of the organization, as well as books, journals, and online resources related to the work programme of the UN.

The UN Archives hold the unpublished material and records of the organization, such as correspondences and internal memos.  

There are also multimedia libraries in New York:

  • Photo Library
  • Audiovisual Library (video & audio)
