Where can I find United Nations press releases?
Last Updated: May 07, 2019     Views: 1368

Press releases are available from October 1995 onwards through the Meetings Coverage and Press Releases website. Press releases issued before October 1995 are available in print at the Dag Hammarskjöld Library.

Press releases include :

  • summaries of meetings (main and subsidiary bodies, conferences),
  • statements,
  • press conferences,
  • biographies for high-level officials, etc.

They serve information purposes only and are not considered official documents. They are, however, a valuable tool for research on current topics since they are produced well in advance of official documents.

Press releases may also be issued at other duty stations outside New York. Check the website of the relevant UN office, programme or fund.
