How was the Ad Hoc Committee on the Indian Ocean established?

The Ad Hoc Committee on the Indian Ocean was established by A/RES/2992(XXVII) of 15 Dec. 1972 with a mandate to study the implications of the implementation of the Declaration of the Indian Ocean as a Zone of Peace, adopted by the General Assembly in A/RES/2832 (XXVI) of 16 Dec. 1971.
