How was the United Nations Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) established?

The United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) was established by A/RES/913 (X) of 3 Dec. 1955. Its mandate is to assess and report on the levels of and the effects of exposure to ionizing radiation.
The Committee issues major scientific publications in its area of work.
