How was the Commission on Science and Technology for Development established?

The Commission on Science and Technology for Development was established by Economic and Social Council decision 1992/218 of 30 April 1992 (p. 63 of E/1992/92) in accordance with A/RES/46/235 of 13 April 1992.

The Commission was preceded by the Intergovernmental Committee on Science and Technology for Development, which was established by A/RES/34/218 of 19 December 1979.

Working documents of the Commission are issued under series symbol E/CN.16/-.
