The total population of the staff of the global Secretariat as of 31 December 2017 is 38,105. This can be found in the report "Composition of the Secretariat: staff demographics – Report of the Secretary-General" (A/73/79) which contains a demographic analysis of the staff of the Secretariat. The most recent report covers 1 January-31 December 2017.

Until June 2016, the report had been issued annually, with data covering 1 July-30 June. Starting with 2017 data, the annual report covers January-December.

It includes, among other information, the number of staff by:

  • Category
  • Entity
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Nationality
