How can I find agreements between member states published by the United Nations?

Agreements between member states may be transmitted in various ways to the United Nations.

Sometimes, states will inform the UN of an agreement by letter or note verbale. They may or may not request to have the document transmitted to a principal organ (e.g. the General Assembly or the Security Council).  If the letter does not include the request, the agreement is not published as a document.

If the letter states a request to transmit the content to a principal organ, then a symbolled document will be issued. Search UNBISnet by Author = Name of Member State and type of material B18 letters.

In addition, treaties between member states may be registered with the United Nations and published in the UN Treaty Series (UNTS) upon entry into force.

The UN Treaty Series is available online in the UN Treaty Collection website.

Search the UNTS by Participant or use the Advanced Search options to refine your search.
