What is the UNBIS Thesaurus?
Last Updated: May 14, 2015
UNBISnet, the United Nations Bibliographic Information System, is the on-line catalogue of the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library.
The UNBIS Thesaurus is a multilingual database of the controlled vocabulary used to describe UN documents and other materials in Library's catalogue.
The UNBIS Thesaurus grows as new topics are introduced to the agenda of the organization and evolves as the language in the UN documents shifts over time. Controlled vocabulary makes subject searches possible by identifying documents on the same topic even as terminology changes.
Terms are organized in a hierarchy, related, broader and narrower terms are indicated in the result. Users can browse by category, or search for terms (links below).
These terms can be used in UNBISnet bibliographic search as well as in the ODS Advanced Search.
