According to A/C.5/32/17 the United Nations nomenclature provides a rational and understandable system of organizational names, essential to establish certain norms which can be applied throughout the Secretariat.

The United Nations organizational nomenclature is detailed in document A/C.5/32/17 of 3 October 1977 and in ST/SGB/Organization of 8 August 1996.

ST/SGB/2015/3 promulgates the current organizational structure of the United Nations Secretariat.

Previous documents on the Organization of the Secretariat are searchable from the Library catalogue (UNBISNET) or from the Official Document System (ODS).
